Greetings! My name is Joseph and I’ve been self-employed since 2007 when I quit a senior-level management position at a prestigious arts organization and began a journey to do what we all dream of…to NOT HAVE A BOSS.
There are a lot of reasons why we all have this desire but in a nutshell, it boils down to control and freedom; to work on what we want, when we want.
It’s been 5 years now and I’ve never looked back. Has it been hard? Yes. Has it been scary? Yes. Did I almost give up? More than once. Do I wish I would have done things differently? DEFINITELY, yes! But I did it! And I’m still doing it. And you can too.
I grew up in the mid-west on a farm between Tiny City A and Tiny City B. I went to college and spent over 20 years doing (mostly) what I loved. I know that makes me very lucky. If you are like most people, you hate your work situation. And if you’re like me, you’ve been dreaming for years about what you’re going to do “when you retire.”
Well, in 2007, I decided to retire. I mean, why wait? With the internet, there are tons of ways to make money online using the exact same talents and passions you are using at your *current* job.
I’ll be the first to admit, that was certainly a scary decision to make. Specifically, I wish I would have taken some more time to plan. Sure, I squirreled away money for a few months. But, I realize I had more to learn than I thought. Isn’t that the beauty of life…Learning new things?
Today I have many freelance projects, consulting clients, e-commerce websites and various other ways of making money. I’ve always believed and taught that you *really can* do anything you put your mind to. We can do so much more than that negative voice in our head says! I really REALLY believe that and I bet you do too.
My “The Quit Your Job Manual” is an attempt to help others prepare for the day they are ready to say “I Quit” to their boss. I have figured out how to live my life without working for someone else and I want to share that knowledge with you. I enjoy helping people and teaching things. I’m constantly trying to learn new things so that the more I can learn, the more I can teach. And if I meet some new friends along the way, so much the better for all of us!
I hope you will read my newsletters and visit my blog. And I hope for you, that you make this decision; to take control of your life, to really make a dream happen, and change your life so that it’s REALLY how you want it to be. As Walt Disney said, “If you can dream it, you can do it.”
To Your Profitable & Successful Future,
